Well, this is an interesting light bulb isn’t it. But is there really a light that operates for 10 years without the need for a battery? The answer is yes, they belong to a family of light source known as Self-Powered Lighting. The key is “Tritium”, which is essentially in the form of “radioactive water”. Raioactive water emits beta rays which stimulate the phosphor powder to glow. Tritium continously emits beta rays for more than 10 years and it would keep your Tritium lamp lit for several years. Just be careful and don’t even try breaking your tritium vial because it is dangerous to your health.
